A man was arrested this Thursday after pointing a gun at Argentine Vice President Cristina Fernández.
The incident occurred outside Fernández’s house, in the Recoleta neighborhood of Buenos Aires, when he was getting out of his vehicle and greeting his followers.
The images broadcast on television show the moment when a man extends the weapon and points it directly at him.
The vice president crouches, the man withdraws his arm and stops pointing at her. His personal guard tries to stop the man. Argentine media suggested that the weapon would have jammed.
The Minister of Security, Aníbal Fernández, confirmed that the subject was arrested. He said that it is a 35-year-old Brazilian who has a history of carrying weapons.
