Darío Toñánez, a representative of the Tobati truckers, informed 1080 AM that the only way the government would listen is to take to the streets to protest. On July 9, they reached an agreement with the Ministry of Industry (MIC) and Petropar, to achieve a reduction of G. 700 for payments with a special card, but this was not fulfilled.
“The card only allowed a reduction of G. 200, after Petropar decided to lower G. 500 in some types of fuel. That is why we do not accept it and we reject it. With notes we have no strength. We ask for the urgent reduction of fuel prices”, he commented.
The union leader questioned that the Government has promised a reduction of between G. 1,400 to G. 1,500 per liter of all fuels by mid-August, in response to the downward trend in the international price of crude oil. “They did not comply with that either, international prices are low but they do not lower the price of local fuels. They say they still have stock”, he questioned.
