The Cuban team won its first victory this Wednesday in the super round of the World Cup under-15’s baseball that hosts the city of Hermosillo, Mexico, by beating its counterpart from Panama 8-3 in a match that ended earlier due to rain, according to official media on the island.
A timely offense allowed the scoreboard to be turned around, as Cuban starter Robier Hernández’s lack of control made it possible for the Panamanians to base two men for walks in the same first inning. The players were towed to home plate with singles by Juan David Caballero and Jorge Luis Pinilla, according to a note published on the sports portal Hit.

The other run for the Istmeños came in the second inning, thanks to a triple by Jhojan Oriel Downer in left field and a grounder to Yadier Eduardo Molina’s shortstop, the report added.
The Cuban cast managed to level the scoreboard in that same inning, but the decisive cluster of five touchdowns came in the bottom of the fourth inning. Later, a prolonged rain forced the suspension of the game with victory for Cuba, as four of the seven regulation episodes had been completed, the publication explains.
During the stretch played, several Cubans had stood out with the wood, among them Alejandro Prieto (2-2, 2 runs scored and one RBI), Segián Pérez (2-2, 1 AC and 1 CI) and Maykol Rodríguez (3-1, 2 CI ), according to official statistics.
Robier stayed in the box for three innings with as many runs, hits and walks allowed, facing a lone strikeout. The Artemiseño right-winger Ernest Machado came to his rescue, who with an immaculate chapter would take the victory, highlights Hit.
