Cancun, QR. The Mayan Train is representing serious labor competition for homebuilders, recognized the leader of the National Chamber of the Housing Development and Promotion Industry (Canadevi) in Quintana Roo, Ari Adler Brotman, who said that they suffer from a personnel deficit of 30%, of which the majority chooses to be employed in the flagship project of the federal government.
“We have a problem of inflation in labor that had not occurred; we are also competing for labor with hoteliers, although they have it a little more difficult because they need more qualified labor in matters of a second language and customer service, ”he explained.
Although in fact it represents a problem, he said that it is a reflection of the economic dynamism of the state, not only in the housing sector, but also in the hotel and restaurant sectors, which are the ones that have made it known that they also suffer from a lack of personnel.
Ari Adler Brotman announced that in view of this situation, they are seeking the Ministry of Labor to provide facilities for the transfer of personnel from other states to Quintana Roo.
They are also seeking support through the Ministry of Finance, with the aim of reducing the initial expenses involved in bringing workers from other states who need to provide housing and cover basic needs while they adapt to a new place of residence.
Last week, Saraí Sánchez, responsible for Section 6 of the Mayan Train, which runs from Tulum to Chetumal, assured that this segment will create 20,000 direct jobs, which will be added to the 144,000 created by the work in the five sections that have already started.
He commented that more than 80% of the jobs generated have been for people from the localities benefited by the work.
