Music, dance and typical gastronomy to celebrate Immigrant's Day

Handicrafts, typical dishes and drinks, musical and dance performances from different regions of the world will come together this weekend at the Collectivities Festival to be held at the Hotel de los Inmigrantes, in the city of Buenos Aires, to celebrate the Sunday the day of the thousands of people born in other countries but who chose Argentina to settle down, consolidate their families and develop professionally.

The event will take place this Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the grounds of the historic building, headquarters of the National Directorate of Migration (DNM), located at Avenida Antártida Argentina 1355, with an outdoor display of more than 60 gastronomic stands. and regional products from various countries, in addition to artistic, musical and dance shows, and a traveling exhibition of the Immigration Museum.

The exhibition will be attended by more than 30 embassies and consulates from different countries, who will display their representatives dressed in traditional attire from their communities and who will invite visitors to taste typical dishes and drinks, as well as buy regional handicrafts.

The Collectivities Festival will be held in commemoration of Immigrant’s Day, which is celebrated in Argentina every September 4, in memory of the provision issued by the First Triumvirate of 1812 that established the “immediate protection of individuals of all nations and their relatives who wish to settle in the territory.

In addition to the stands of the different countries, the multicultural event will include various artistic music and dance shows, among which the groups El Choque Urbano, Anda Calabaza and Los del Fuego stand out, and will include the participation of the members of the traditional program “Argentine Cooks”, which is broadcast on Public Television, which will broadcast live throughout Sunday presenting recipes from the different regions of the country.

Likewise, the National Directorate of Migration, dependent on the Ministry of the Interior, will exhibit the itinerant exhibition of the Immigration Museum with the aim of publicizing details about the different migratory waves that occurred in the country, as well as offering the visitors the possibility of consulting the database of the Port of Buenos Aires and take home a certificate of arrival of their ancestors.

Within the framework of the festival, in addition, some companies and organizations will have their own stands where they will carry out various institutional and entertainment activities, such as the case of YPF, Nucleoeléctrica Argentina SA, Energía Argentina and AySA, as well as the Ministry of Culture of the Nation and the Registry National People (Renaper).

International organizations such as the UN Refugee Agency and the Integral Organization for Migration (IOM), among others, will also accompany the multicultural festival.
