Edgar Rodríguez O’Reilly, a Greco-Roman wrestler and student at the Manuel Fajardo University of Physical Culture and Sports Sciences, was murdered last Saturday after being involved in a fight on a beach in Havana.
The news was given by the sports media Full Swing this Tuesday, four days after the events, of which there is no hint in any other official media. According to the publicationthe young man, 19 years old, was in his first year of university, studying for a degree to be a sports coach.
Lázaro Nuviola, identified in Full Swing as Rodríguez O’Reilly’s trainer, he lamented: “It’s hard to believe and imagine that a boy with such a noble character could take his life away in that way.”

Despite the fact that the Cuban government has declared that the wave of violent events reported on networks and independent media in recent months are “fake news”violence in the country is growing.
On February 11, another murder behind the back of the official media happened in Havana. It was about Andy Rencurrel30 years old, stabbed in the Luyanó neighborhood of the Diez de Octubre municipality in a dispute over the satellite dish market.
Rencurrel’s murder occurred just three days after the stabbing of Malcolm Alvarez Espinosaat the gates of his house in Central Havana, for “a debt” that, according to close friends told this newspaper, a brother of Malcolm had with the aggressors.
On July 6, the Cuban authorities confirmed the murder of Professor Santiago Morgado. It was the first time that the official press spoke about the case, which was made public on social networks a few days earlier, when the family reported the 62-year-old man as missing.
Morgado was assassinated for 200,000 pesos. It is the price for which the Suzuki motorcycle that was stolen on July 1 was sold before killing him.
