Cuba closes undefeated group stage in the U-15 Baseball World Cup

The Cuban team won this Tuesday with a slate of 3-2 against its similar team from Taiwan to close undefeated its time in group A of the World Cup under-15’s baseball, which is celebrated in the city of Hermosillo, Mexico.

According to a note published in the sports portal Hitboth teams came to the duel with a balance of 2-0 to define something more than the top of the key, since the bilateral result is dragged into the super round that begins today, also with the leading role of Japan and Panama (key B) together to the United States and Puerto Rico (C).

The Caribbean cast used three pitchers to leave their rivals in two runs and five hits. Yosniel Menéndez from Matanzas pitched 2.1 innings with two hits, one run allowed, one strikeout and three walks; Danel Reyes boxed for the next 2 2/3 innings, in which he gave up two hits and one run, gave up a walk and struck out for the win. Closer Mailon Batista allowed just one hit and struck out twice to earn the save.

According to the media, the Cuban leadership resorted to bunting, stealing bases and running and batting plays to make the necessary annotations that ensured victory.

The second presentation will be on Thursday against Puerto Rico (6:00 pm); on Friday the rival will be Japan (10:30 pm) and on Saturday it will be the closing match against the United States (10:30 pm).

The top two teams in the super round will play for the tournament title on Sunday, September 4, with the battle for bronze going to the occupants of places three and four.
