Encarnación will be one of the protagonist cities of the XII Odesur Games, and will be selecting volunteers for this massive event until next Friday, September 9.
The city of Encarnación will seek to shine as the sub-host of the XII South American Games Asunción 2022, which is why the “Pearl of the South” will exhibit its maximum splendor when it receives the athletes of the Games of the South American Sports Organization (Odesur), an appointment international multi-sport event with the presence of the countries Argentina, Aruba, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Curaçao, Ecuador, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela.
EVENT
In the south of the country, the games will take place from October 2 to 11 with the presence of more than 350 athletes and delegates from the 15 countries that make up the Odesur. A total of five sports will be developed, which will be: Sailing, Triathlon and Open Water Swimming at San José Beach; Water Skiing, Costanera Padre Bolik; and MTB Cycling (Mountain Biking), in the Agua Vista Complex.
QUALIFIER
Asu 2022 is the twelfth edition of the South American Games and encompasses numerous competitions that are qualifying for the Pan American Games, hence its importance within the Olympic cycle, in search of qualification for the Olympic Games.
This competition will be attended by more than 7,000 athletes and officials, with 34 sports, plus paddle tennis and chess as guest sports, 53 modalities and 4,000 volunteers, calling more than 20,000 spectators from October 1 to 15.
VOLUNTEERING
The Volunteers will be the heart of the games, since many athletes will depend on them, they will also be the living force that will make the development of sporting events possible. To take part, registration is open through the web: www.asu2022.org.py/voluntariado for residents of Encarnación and surrounding cities.
The registration deadline for volunteers is September 9 and the general training for aspiring volunteers will be on September 10 and 11 in the city of Encarnación. Of course, Tirika, the official representative and the number one athlete of the Asu 2022 Games, will be accompanying all the sports activities on all the stages, sharing with the athletes and spectators.
FIRST EDITION
The ASU 2022 South American Games will take place mainly in Asunción, Luque and some events in San Bernardino, Encarnación and Ciudad del Este. The first edition of the South American Games was held in La Paz, the administrative capital of Bolivia, in November 1978. Since then, the Games have been held every four years in various cities in South America.
