According to the Border Patrol, last Monday 33 Cuban migrants, divided into two groups, arrived in different areas of the Keys. Among Saturday and Sunday, 27 Cubans also made landfall in the Keys. On Friday, August 26, 42 Cubans were detained after making landfall on a group of islands west of Key West, in a wooden fishing boat.

According to the agency, the statistics have behaved as follows: 5,396 Cubans intercepted in fiscal year 2016; 1,468 in 2017; 259 in 2018; 313 in 2019; 49 in 2020 and 838 in 2021.
While in the same period, by land, more than 180,000 Cubans arrived in the northern country, according to data shared by the Department of Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
