Paris Saint-Germain Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes has an agreement with Juventus to join the Italian club and will not be in the squad to travel to Toulouse on Wednesday, PSG coach Christophe Galtier announced on Tuesday.
“Leandro will not be part of the squad. I spoke to him after training. We know that he has an agreement with Juventus, which we are going to face in no time (September 6 in the first round of the Liga de Champions). His head is elsewhere, only the agreements between the clubs are missing. I have not included him in the group to prepare his departure,” explained Galtier.
Paredes (28 years old) arrived at Paris Saint-Germain in January 2019 from Russian Zenit Saint Petersburg (2017-2019) for 47 million euros, after a first stage in Italian football (Chievo, Rome, Empoli).
He is an international with Argentina and a figure very close to Lionel Messi. He was part of the Albiceleste group that was crowned in 2021 in the Copa América.
With PSG he reached the final in the Champions League in 2020 and has won three French Ligue 1 titles, two French Cups and one French League Cup.
At Juventus, he would especially reunite with a compatriot and former teammate at Paris Saint-Germain, Ángel Di María.
This Tuesday, Juventus announced that both Di María and Leonardo Bonucci, who were injured, are recovered. That makes both of them available for the next matches, especially that duel against PSG next week, at the start of the 2022-2023 Champions League. YS
