Former General Commander of the PNP, Luis Vera, announces that he would take legal action for his "arbitrary" retirement

Former PNP Commander General Luis Vera Llerena announced that he will take legal action against the decision of the government of President Pedro Castillo to retire him on Saturday, August 27.

Vera Llerena asserted that it was “a go to arbitrary withdrawal”, for which he assured that he will meet with his lawyer to evaluate what actions they will take. In this sense, he stressed that he will defend his dignity, since he said he felt “hit by a car”.

“I am looking at the way to exercise my right with legal actions. This morning I met with my lawyer, we are analyzing the situation and tomorrow we are going to meet again to see the corresponding legal actions (…) against my going to arbitrary retirement and for the way they are reporting that the citizen security objectives were not met”, he declared in dialogue with Canal N.

“Without any justification or reason they made me retire and it causes me throughout my police career, in which I am not even questioned (…) I had planned to strengthen the institution and I am going to fight for this law to come out to strengthen it”, he expressed.

The former general commander of the PNP also mentioned that he has presented a bill before the Congress of the Republic so that the general command of the institution lasts a minimum of two years.

“I have presented a bill so that the institution cannot be damaged and so that the command can last at least two years in one administration and cannot be removed by a government entity. This is in the Defense Commission of the Congress, by insistence it will go to the Plenary so that it can leave“, held.
