Environment provisionally suspends the use of raw wood

Medio Ambiente suspende de manera provisional aprovechamiento de madera bruta

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources issued Resolution No. 0018-2019 in which it provisionally suspends the use of raw wood from plantations and forest management plans at the national level.

The suspension provided in the first article of the resolution will be in force until the Environment carries out the pertinent evaluations that make the execution of these activities viable and efficient and allow their reorganization based on the current thematic rules and regulations.

In addition, the institution reported that violations of said resolution will be sanctioned in accordance with the provisions of the General Law on the Environment and Natural Resources No. 64-00, without prejudice to the provisions of other current legal and regulatory provisions.

Likewise, it instructed the Vice Ministry of Forest Resources, the Legal Directorate, the Regional, Provincial, Municipal, and Supervision Directorates of that ministry, as well as the National Environmental Protection Service (SENPA), for the monitoring and application of the mandate of the measure.
