Sandra Milena Urrutia Pérez is the new ICT Minister appointed by President Gustavo Petro. Urrutia has worked in the Comptroller General’s Office, the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce and in private companies such as Movistar.
The appointment comes days after Mery Guitérrez’s was dropped due to several questions about a possible conflict of interest after the Investigative Unit of this newspaper revealed that Gutiérrez was the majority shareholder (97 percent) of Programar Televisión SA, a firm that currently has a lawsuit against the Nation for $45,000 million pesos.
The new person in charge of the ICT portfolio is a lawyer, has a master’s degree in administrative law and is specialized in telecommunications law, a sector in which she has more than 18 years of experience. She has also worked in the field of residential public services, surveillance and control, regulation and customer service.
President Gustavo Petro will make his appointment official in the next few hours, prior to the Andicom 2022 event, the most important international ICT congress in the region.
