MIAMI, United States. — The Mexican state oil company PEMEX will support the reconstruction of the Matanzas Supertanker Base. This was stated by the entity this Tuesday in social networks after a meeting held with the Cuban ambassador in the Aztec country.
“The head of PEMEX, Octavio Romero, the Ambassador of Cuba in Mexico, Marcos Rodríguez, and the Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean Maximiliano Reyes, met to coordinate support in the reconstruction of the facilities in Matanzas, Cuba, after the fire in an oil warehouse, ”said the state oil company on its Twitter account.
The Mexican state company indicated that its specialists will hold technical meetings with those responsible for the reconstruction project of the Matanzas Supertanker Base, which lost four of its eight fuel tanks after the fire that broke out on August 5.
PEMEX’s publication received numerous criticisms from Mexican users, who reproach the company for not investing enough in its own infrastructure.
“That they first invest in PEMEX’s complex refineries, terminals, ships, tanks, hospitals, since they have many deficiencies and shortcomings,” commented a tweeter identified as Jairo Michelena.
The catastrophe in the Matanzas industrial zone lasted several days, forcing the intervention of specialized personnel from the PEMEX company itself and from the Venezuelan state-owned PDVSA.
The Mexican government also managed the shipment to the Island of the Libertador ships, from the Secretary of the Navy, and the Bourbon Artabaze, a private ship contracted by PEMEX itself specialized in security and fire protection services in marine oil installations.
