Despite his irrelevance in Cuban public life, it was the president himself who announced on Tuesday the death of Camilo Guevara March, one of the sons of Ernesto Che Guevara.
“With deep pain we say goodbye to Camilo, Che’s son and promoter of his ideas, as director of the Che Center, which preserves part of his father’s extraordinary legacy,” he wrote. Miguel Diaz-Canelwho sent in his message “hugs to his mother, Aleida, his widow and daughters and the entire Guevara March family.”
According to the agency Latin PressGuevara March was “visiting Caracas” and died “as a result of pulmonary thrombolysis that led to a heart attack.”

Born in 1962, Camilo was Che’s third son, after Hilda -who was born to his first wife, Hilda Gadea- and Aleida -who he already had with Camilo’s mother, Aleida Marchwith whom he would procreate two more children, Celia and Ernesto.
