A new act of violence was recorded in the city of Santa Martawhere this time the bullets ended the life of an older adult identified as Luis Alvarez.
The events occurred on the night of this Monday, August 29, in the Puerto Mosquito Sidewalkrural area of Santa Marta.

According to early versions, Luis Alvarezwho was affectionately called ‘Fought’would be the father of Edwin Alvarezrecognized with alias ‘Neneco’ assassinated last June.
At the time of the events, the older adult was traveling as a barbecue on a motorcycle, when he was intercepted by two gunmenwho without saying a word and without getting out of their vehicle, shot Luis Álvarez to death.
The police investigate the facts in order to clarify the murder against the older adult.
It should be noted that, given the wave of violence that has taken place in recent weeks in the city of Santa Marta and the department of Magdalena, human rights leaders and defenders residing in the tourist district raised a voice of protest through digital platforms and social networks, to question the administrative management in the city and in the department in terms of security.

Lerber Dimashuman rights defender and conflict expert exiled in Germany, wrote on the Sierra Nevada human rights platform that, “In recent weeks there have been three and perhaps four missing persons in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.”
He added that, “The situation worsened with the murder of the two journalists in the municipality of Fundación”and concluded that “So far in 2022, there are a total of 210 violent deaths in Santa Marta, Ciénaga and Zona Bananera”, assured Lerber Dimas.
