The secretary general of the National Drug Board (JND), Daniel Radío, said that his organization works with the Ministry of the Interior for install in the medium term “a center in one of the large prisons” in which they are offered “different therapeutic alternatives”between them “alternative consumption and care” of cannabisin an interview with the Lado B program on Tv Ciudad.
“The reality is that the drug inside the prison circulates”indicated Radio, who believes that if the government can provide the use of cannabis inside prisons control will be taken away from “the fat arms” that supply the drug.
“On the issue of cannabis it is more serious because outside it is allowed and inside it is not.and who wants to enter it, many times it is women pressured by drug networks, they end up in prison, for passing a substance that is legal abroad. It seems to me that we have to find a solution to that,” said the secretary of the JND.
Radio showed on several occasions its position against the prohibition of drugs that is carried out in various parts of the world. “We must unban, retrace that evil path that humanity took and gave us the worst results”He stated this Monday.
“It is not an ideological problem, it is to look at realitythe data is so compelling that It is obvious that this path has not solved anything for us, we only added more problems”continued the politician from the Independent Party, who to give an example of his point of view cited the results of Colombia in its fight against drug trafficking in the last 35 years, with “one death every half hour, 24 hours a day”.
According to the head of the JND, this is a matter of discussion in “the region and the world”and wait for news about it in Colombia, Germany and Chile. He highlighted that Uruguay and Canada These are the countries with the most advanced work on the matter.
He also targeted the “supply control”that although he understands that “You have to continue doing it as long as it is an illegal activity”with a control of “money laundering”, of the border crossings, and with coordination between the intelligence and security services, asked that it no longer be called that way: “It is the confession of a failure, those who control the supply are the drug traffickers, we do not control the supply.”
