The national director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Francisco Durán, reported today that the Caribbean country accumulates 44 cases with the Ómicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes Covid-19.
In a televised press conference, Durán explained that in the week of December 19 to 25, 38 people with this coronavirus mutation were detected.
Of them, 25 are Cubans and 19 foreigners, said the head of epidemiology in the largest of the Antilles.
Recently, the president of the Cuban Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Group, Eduardo Martínez, announced that the Caribbean country is developing specific immunogen designs against Omicron.
