the concentration is remarkable of political power in the hands of Claudia Sheinbaum, the head of the capital’s government who is a prominent part of the official triplet of candidates for the replacement of Andrés Manuel López Obrador in 2024.
On weekends, Sheinbaum schedules visits to other states, where she is received with special deference by the host governors who, it must be said, also welcome the other participants in the competition, Adán Augusto López Hernández and Marcelo Ebrard, although they do not with the same strength, as if those morenista governors knew whom to distinguish and really support; some and some make some attempt at pirouettes or end up openly opting for who they suppose is La Favorita.
Claudia can leave Mexico City because an effective substitution was opportunely enabled, the Secretary of Government, Martí Batres, so knowledgeable about the reality of Chilanga that he is mentioned as an applicant, almost by rank, to the 2024 capital relief, as well as that the federal secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, also deeply knowledgeable of the problems of the former Federal District (she has been secretary of Government with Sheinbaum and head of Social Development and Rural Development).
Sheinbaum has added to his team an electoral strategist with experience in presidential candidacies, Antoni Gutiérrez-Rubí, founder and director of www.ideogram.orga communication consultancy based in Barcelona.
Antoni defines himself as “a promoter of ‘technopolitics’, a project to analyze, investigate and create tools for the digital society”. The arrival of the man who was strategic adviser to Gustavo Petro, the leftist elected to preside over Colombia, and of the Argentine president, Alberto Fernández, and the vice president, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, coincided with the departure of the man who was coordinator of Social Communication of the Government of the CdMx, Sebastián Ramírez, who went on to preside over Morena in the Chilanga demarcation, openly holding Sheinbaum responsible for the 2024 electoral results in this territory in which in 2021, under that same claudist responsibility, nine of the 16 mayorships were lost.
It is great, and open, the concentration of power that was discussed in the opening lines of this column. The main actors of morenismo parade openly and photographically through Scheinbaum’s offices, in sessions and meetings that cannot take place without the approval of the National Palace.
The question, before all this, is what will be the reaction of Adam Augusto, whose political strength depends entirely on who appointed him and supports him (and who, equally, can drop him and nothing transcendent would happen in national politics), but of Marcelo Ebrard, who plays to consolidate himself as an option for the middle classes and sectors progressives
disenchanted with the workshop, but he always has the scythe of Metro Line 12 ready (for him, not for Sheinbaum) to punish any attempt at dissidence.
In Puebla there is an internal struggle of Morena that has at one end the unpresentable Luis Miguel Gerónimo Barbosa Huerta, governor of the state, and a current that supports Ignacio Mier, current coordinator of the federal deputies of Morena, as a candidate for the relief.
Mier presented his work report yesterday, and was accompanied by Mario Delgado and some of the governors who are close to him, in an open promotion contrary to the position of Barbosa, who had previously warned Adán Augusto López Hernández that, as Secretary of the Interior , should seek to balance and not unbalance in politics, since the Tabascan also had gone to Puebla to support Mier.
