The Director of Operations of the Institute of National Aqueducts and Sewers (Idaan), Iván Cano, delved into the issue of expanding the water treatment plants in the capital, Colón and Panamá Oeste, in order to supply drinking water to communities where they have failures or interruptions in the supply of this vital liquid.

He highlighted that in the case of Colón, an investment of around $111 million is being made to expand the production of drinking water in the Sabanitas water treatment plant; the project presents an advance of 68%.

Regarding the capital, he said that a plant is being built in Gamboa that will produce 60 million gallons and is currently 54% complete.

It should be noted that the Sabanitas plant, with this new project, will increase the production of drinking water to 30 million gallons per day.
