The Minister of Justice and Human Rights (Minjus), Aníbal Torres, urged the President Pedro Castillo to allow the entry of “prosecutors and competent authorities” to the Government Palace so that they can carry out the preliminary investigation into the Petroperú case.
“I would say to the president: Allow, even, that they enter the vault of the (Government) Palace, that they enter your office, However, they (provincial prosecutors) do not have the power to do so, but – for the sake of transparency – do that. Return immediately from Puña (Cajamarca), open the Palace and let all the competent prosecutors and authorities enter“Said Torres Vásquez in dialogue with Exitosa.
“I would tell the president to open the door of the Government Palace and put up a large sign that says ‘come in, competent prosecutors come in’ because there is no other way out of this”He added.
In addition, it questioned that the prosecutor Luis Medina, deputy prosecutor Norah Córdova, has denounced Eduardo Pachas, Castillo Terrones’s lawyer, for allegedly having stolen a resolution in the December 22 diligence carried out at the seat of Government.
“That to be investigated. I believe in the lawyer for being a decent person. A transparent person. I cannot believe the prosecutor (Norah Córdova), it is impossible for him to believe the prosecutor because, as has been publicly demonstrated, she has declared herself an enemy of the president, whom she calls a terrorist and a communist”Exclaimed the minister.
“She has declared herself an enemy of the president, how is she going to be investigating her enemy. That is not logical. That doesn’t happen anywhere in the world, only in Peru. These people do a lot of damage to the justice system. They muddy the honest prosecutors and judges in the Judicial Power and the Public Ministry”He added.
In that line, Aníbal Torres assured that the provincial prosecutors who participated in the investigation at the Government Palace are not empowered to investigate the head of state.
“They cannot enter the Presidential Office, but they can enter other areas. Yes, they have been provided with all the information that they have requested and the President of the Republic has not prevented them from doing that. However, the deputy prosecutor in the record has (made) established that the President of the Republic, who was not present at that time, has prevented him and that this is disturbing justice”, He concluded.
The Public Ministry is investigating alleged irregularities in a biodiesel tender that Petroperú awarded to a company whose manager, Samir Abudayeh, met with the manager of the state-owned company and President Pedro Castillo weeks before the tender was awarded.
