Coronavirus: Cuba with 70 infections on Saturday, 58 discharges notified

Cuba identified 70 infections of the SARS-CoV-2 virus on Saturday, August 27, according to the part published today by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP). 58 discharges were notified.

In total, 405 people remained hospitalized due to COVID-19; of these, 160 were suspected cases and 245 confirmed active. In intensive care rooms there was barely one bedridden due to COVID-19, according to the MINSAP registry.

The highest figures of the day were reported from Holguín, with 25 cases. Camagüey follows, but the number of identified patients is much lower, totaling 10.

On the contrary, Pinar del Río, Mayabeque, Cienfuegos, Santiago de Cuba and the Isla de la Juventud Special Municipality were free of infections.

The fatalities of COVID-19 remain at 8,530 as no deaths were reported this day either. The lethality is 0.77%.

The laboratories processed 2,309 samples and, of the positive ones, 52 correspond to contacts of confirmed cases, while nine included the patients in whom the cause of the infection was not specified. There were also nine imported cases.

By age ranges, infections continue to predominate in those under 20 years of age, with 47 on the day. In addition, nine corresponded to the range between 20 and 39 years old, 13 to 40 to 59 years old and only one was over 60.
