Families “agree that this work be carried out and they did not accept because of the time, because the rescue will take longer and they would like it to be as soon as possible,” said the president.
Relatives of the miners trapped in Sabinas, Coahuila, assured this week that authorities have a rescue plan that could last from six to 11 months.
“It is the only option they give us: to make some pits that will take six to 11 months,” said the relative of one of the miners before local media, after having a meeting with Laura Velázquez, national coordinator of Civil Protection. .
At the time, the families rejected the plan. They also refused to receive compensation.
Civil Protection reported on Wednesday that after 21 days and more than 500 hours of work, the joint efforts of the three government orders have not stopped and will not stop at the Pinabete mine in Sabinas, Coahuila.
“Uninterruptedly, the Government of Mexico deploys all the necessary resources to enter the mine,” said the authority.
During the morning conference of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Laura Velázquez said that the technical team made up of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), the National Center for Disaster Prevention (Cenapred) of the CNPC and engineers from the Mimosa company, developed a proposal to solve the problem at the Pinabete mine, based on previous experiences and best practices worldwide.
The official highlighted that three options are being evaluated in this regard: the first is open pit with inclined access ramp works, through an entrance to the mine from the surface to go down a tunnel with a slope to the galleries and accompanied by pumping; the second includes control screens, which represent physical barriers between the Conchas Norte and Pinabete mines, also accompanied by pumping; and the third option is a combination of the previous two.
