“As a Presidential Delegation, we presented a complaint before the serious disorders that ended with people being run over by a cart in the call for cyclists for the Approval.” With this statement, the Presidential Delegate of the Metropolitan Region, Constanza Martínez, announced that they will initiate legal action, given the events that occurred in the context of demonstrations registered this Sunday, a week after the plebiscite for the constitutional proposal.
While the injured person was transferred to the former Posta Central, the driver of the cart was arrested and taken to the 1st Carabineros Police Station to be brought before the courts of justice, for ramming a group of cyclists. The act was described by the delegate Martínez as “reprehensible and unacceptable”, since “under no circumstances will we tolerate that level of violence”.
