A brace by Chilean Alexis Sánchez led to a new victory for Marseille, which is provisionally the leader of Ligue 1 at the expense of Paris Saint Germain, who have yet to meet Monaco on matchday four.

The session was marked by the historic triumph of Montpellier who achieved their biggest win in Ligue 1 by beating Brest 0-7 at the Stade Francis Le Blé.

Alexis Sánchez leads Marseille, which is led by Croatian Igor Tudor this season. The Chilean, the main reinforcement of the Marseille team, is already profitable for his team that added his third success of the course at the Allianz Riviera in Nice (0-3).

Alexis opened and closed the account of his team that sealed the goal in the first part. He scored in the 10th and in the 42nd. In between, Nuno Tavares scored the second. Tudor’s team leads the table tied with Lens and with a point advantage over Paris Saint Germain.

But it was the Montpellier win that was the most striking of the date. Olivier Dall’Oglio’s team had suffered two defeats in a row in their visit to Brest but they came back with force by giving a lesson in efficiency in the first half.

At six minutes Faitout Maouassa opened the scoring. Goals from Sepe Elye Wahi followed in the 10th minute, Tunisian Wahbi Kharzri’s in the 11th and Nicolas Cozz’s in the 25th. Half an hour later, Wahi repeated.

Brest, who had recovered from their poor start to the season with a draw against Marseille and a win against Angers, faced the rest of the match with one less player due to the expulsion of Pierre Lees Melou. Even so, in the second half he only conceded Valere Germain’s brace, which rounded off his team’s historic victory.

The Du Moustoir stadium witnessed the good moment of Lorient that continues without losing. They beat Clermont (2-1) thanks to the inspiration of Nigerian Tremas Moffi who scored two goals before halftime.

Although Paul Gastien’s visitors lost Brazilian Neto Borges at the start of the second half due to a double yellow, they were able to close the gap at the hour mark with a goal from Austrian Muhammed Cham.

With a match still pending, against Lyon, Lorient is fifth in the standings. In the other part of the table are Troyes and Angers, who met at the Estadi De l’Aube.

Troyes got their first victory of the season at the expense of Gerarld Batricle’s team, who have not yet won (3-1) and who had to play from the 20th minute with one less player due to Batista Mendy’s expulsion.

By that time, the locals were already winning with a goal after twelve minutes by Renaud Ripart. They then widened their lead through Thierno Balde in the 61st and, although Lois Diony cut back in the 67th, Wilson Odobert dispelled any doubts with his goal eight minutes from time.
