The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, sent condolences to the people and government of Pakistan for the “regrettable loss of human lives and material damage caused by the monsoon rains.”
From his Twitter account, the Cuban president expressed his government’s solidarity in the face of the unprecedented rainfall experienced by the Asian nation as a result of the climate change.

the cuban agency Latin Press (PL) recalls that more than a thousand people have died in Pakistan due to the floods, according to data provided by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), which also verified 1,527 injured since June 14.
The southern province of Sindh is the most affected, while the material damage so far amounts to about three billion euros with almost 950,000 homes partially or totally destroyed, around 3,500 kilometers of roads damaged and some 150 collapsed bridges.
The floods have affected 110 municipalities in the country, 72 of which were declared a disaster area. Some 5.7 million people have been affected by the rains, including 498,000 transferred to relief camps.
Cuba and Pakistan maintain collaboration in the areas of sports, culture and education with the training of almost a thousand young people from the Asian nation in medical universities of the Caribbean country.
Last June, Pakistan sent a donation of material to Cuba with the purpose of supporting health personnel and patients sick with COVID-19.
