The National Institute for the Protection of Consumer Rights (Pro Consumer) analyzes alternatives in the product distribution chain in search of creating mechanisms that can lower operating costs in the trade in goods and thus ensure that prices remain stable or decrease.
This was stated yesterday by the director of Pro Consumer, Eddy Alcantarawho also reported that a survey has been carried out to be aware of the situation that affects the commerce sector and that makes it difficult for them to place a lower margin on products.
This is because the retailers said that the grocery store operating costs They have risen to 23%, so they have had to increase the margins on the products.
“From the pact that was signed with the merchants, the fundamental thing has been that most of the products remain stabilized and that we look for mechanisms to try to reduce the cost of operation with the alternatives that are being sought.”

He said that they manage palliative alternatives that reach distributors and retailers, and that this benefit is transferred to consumers, which is the fundamental objective.
The official explained that as a result of the fact that this sector is not regulated by the Monetary and Financial Lawit is up to Pro Consumidor to ensure the rights of each of the consumers who carry out transactions with the providers of this type of commerce.
He also indicated that the review of the adhesion contracts by Pro Consumidor has as its main purpose, “to ensure that they do not contain clauses that are harmful to the rights of consumers or users, enshrined in the consumer protection law.”
“Failure to comply with the stipulated requirements, in terms of adhesion contracts, including the introduction of abusive clauses, is considered an infraction of the aforementioned law, for which the natural or legal persons who by omission or action have participated in them will be responsible. , mediating fraud, fault or mere non-observance”, he finally said.
