The Ministry of Health (Minsa) indicated that Peru has already agreed for 2022 the purchase of 55 million doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 for him 2022, which will guarantee the immunization of citizens, even with a possible fourth dose.

In dialogue with Canal N, the Minister of Health, Hernando Cevallos, specified that the eventual application of a fourth dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 it will depend on how the pandemic develops.
“We have agreed with different laboratories (the purchase of) 55 million doses of vaccines for the three quarters of next year, which would allow us, if necessary, to apply a fourth booster dose for the most vulnerable sectors and for ( health personnel) from the front line“Said the member of the ministerial cabinet.
On the other hand, he reiterated that it has already been confirmed with the Pfizer laboratory the number of doses needed to vaccinate children from 5 to 11 years old from January 2022. He indicated that in the next few days the date of the start of the inoculation will be informed to said age group.

“This will be important to give parents peace of mind at the beginning of classes (school) that we need so much in the country”, He stressed.
“We have to wait for the shipment date, then the distribution to the different regions. At the appropriate time we are going to indicate exactly the date on which the vaccination would begin, which we also want to be in an orderly manner, that there are no large queues and to be able to vaccinate our children so that the start of classes is much more calm and security”, He added Hernando Cevallos.
