The Single Table of the Dialogue for Panama agreed on Friday night to set up seven follow-up commissions and established dates and meeting places for their respective facilities.
Representatives of the social movements grouped together in the Alianza Pueblo Unidos por la Vida, Alianza Nacional del Pueblo Organizado (Anadepo), and the Bastion de Lucha del Oriente Chiricano (Comarca Ngäbe Buglé y Campesinos), together with authorities of the Executive Branch, agreed to create commissions to follow up on issues such as the Basic Healthy Basket, Food Safety, the incorporation of the Ministry of Agricultural Development into the “Prompt Payment” mechanism, a new norm that regulates Acodeco, control of the international price of fuel, the reduction of electricity and the fight against corruption.
The installation of these commissions will take place in the capital city, starting on September 5, and will be attended by three representatives for each alliance, plus the advisers that these groups have assigned for each topic, as well as the authorities of Acodeco, the Ministry of Agricultural Development, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Government Innovation Authority, and the National Executive Secretariat of Energy.
The first commissions to be installed will be those of the Basic Healthy Family Basket, which will analyze the reform of Law 45 of 2007 that governs Acodeco. The act will be held on September 5, 2022, in room 18 of the headquarters of the Authority for Consumer Protection and Defense of Competition, on Fernández de Córdoba avenue, at ten in the morning.
Authorities from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agricultural Development will also participate in the Commission that will design the Healthy Basic Basket. In the Commission that will be dedicated to creating a new law for Acodeco will be lawyers from the institution and from the alliances.
On September 7, two additional commissions will be installed: the Permanent Commission for the control of international and national fuel market prices, and the Commission to more effectively attend to the agreements and follow up and comply with the energy reduction.
These commissions will be installed at the headquarters of the Government Innovation Authority (AIG) on Calle 61 and Avenida Ricardo Arango, Edificio Sucre, Arias y Reyes (Floor 3), starting at 10:00 in the morning.
Two additional commissions, the one that will seek legal resources to incorporate the MIDA into the “Prompt Payment” mechanism to attend to the debt of national producers, and the Permanent Commission on Food Security, will be installed on September 15, 2022, at the headquarters main office of the Ministry of Agricultural Development in Altos de Curundú, also at ten in the morning.
Finally, the National Citizen Anticorruption Commission will be installed on September 16, at the headquarters of the National Authority for Transparency and Access to Information (Antai), in Ancón, at 10:00 am in the morning.
