Havana Cuba. — None of the campaigns promoted by the mediocre government of Díaz-Canel has produced results. People are not planting their little piece because they don’t want to, they don’t have time or, simply, they don’t have the blessed little piece to plant even a piece of lettuce. Nor does he resist creatively or think about revolutionizing absolutely anything. Everything that the word revolution implies generates a deep distrust in Cubans, who are not interested in putting a heart to what is definitively dead.
Nothing that Díaz-Canel has said draws a commission of deception, even if it is small. Not even those who surround him in television reports, applaud him and shout some slogan or other seriously consider dedicating their time to something other than scraping everything they can, in money, species or favors, to face the extension of the crisis, or emigrate.
The insistence on doing certain things for the good of a Revolution that lies cold and dead has generated efforts in the opposite direction. This could be due to the redundancies of Díaz-Canel, which tend to confuse; but the truth is that the uniformed vanguard of those who “love love and hate hate” has starred in one of the most unfortunate episodes of abuse in recent months.
It happened in Purnio, a rural town in San Andrés, province of Holguín. In the images that circulate in social networks It is very clear how two agents of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) are trying to arrest a young peasant who apparently suffers from some intellectual disability. When he refuses to put on the handcuffs, one of them sounds several slaps in front of a woman — presumably her mother — who records the scene and at all times tells the boy to stay calm.
So did the young man. Without raising his hand to the henchman, he allowed himself to be hit four times. Four loud crackers that have made every Cuban with shame see the video jump with indignation. The uniformed officer also shook him, put him in a choke hold, threw him to the ground and threatened the woman with beating her as well.
As simple as that, this is “palo pa´to´el mundo”: the girls of Nuevitas, the political prisoners, the mother who intercedes for her son and anyone who dares to protest against the dictatorship or claim a universal and inalienable right. Nothing and no one can put a stop to these abuses because they are state policy. That policeman is an abuser, a guy with a heavy hand, a bastard. Those four cookies on the face of the young peasant were not an outburst, but the usual reaction of a hitman who, protected by a badge and a uniform, sows in the Cuban fields of the 21st century the same terror that the Spanish Rural Guard sowed in the XIX century or the Batista helmets during the years of the Republic.
A lot of coup and a lot of corruption. That is what the Cuban police are: a train of starving people, overwhelmed by the same deprivations as the people, but vile and cowardly at a level that has no forgiveness. In the video there is no cut, nothing that leaves room for doubts or malicious interpretations. The peasant did not defend himself and the henchman gave him all the slaps he wanted in the presence of witnesses, because he believes he is untouchable. Whoever behaves in this way is convinced that nothing will happen to him. If the mother wants to file a complaint, let her do it; If the kid wants to claim, let him claim.
Under a totalitarian regime that has made terror its only resource to stay in power, there is little a humble mother and her son can do. Where is the lawyer who will defend them? In which broadcast the empellita without the character of With Edge or the lying rat of Humberto López will denounce this new brutality, which, like the deaths of Raidel Vidal Caignet, Diubis Laurencio Tejeda and Hansel Ernesto, or the beatings of the Nuevitas girls and hundreds of protesters on July 11, 2021 will sink into silence and impunity?
Who at this point insists on dialogue with a dictatorship that allows such iniquities is its accomplice, and as such should be treated. The police exceed all limits while the official press calls a simple poster on public roads a terrorism. Every day they make it more evident that in Cuba the mechanisms for imparting justice are atrophied. Those who love love try to overfulfill emulation by distributing “sweetie” to two hands, defying the laws, trampling on constitutional rights that in this misfortune of a country are worth less than a ball of manure.
Don’t be surprised if one fine day your “love” is rewarded with a Machete Plan that no one is going to get rid of. For a while they have been screwing people who are very tired, very hurt and increasingly pushed to the extreme. The killing blow can come from anywhere. In Cuba everything is known and you can be sure that there will be no mistake.
