Social movements and the Executive Body agree on a way out of the CSS point addressed at the single dialogue table

This Friday, August 26, the Alianza Pueblo Unidos por la Vida and the Alianza Nacional del Pueblo Organizado (Anadepo), as well as the Bastion de Lucha del Oriente Chiricano, Pueblo Ngäbe-Buglé y Campesinos, and the Executive Branch, reached an agreement that allows give an outlet to the issue of the Social Security Fund, which is number five on the agreed agenda at the Single Table of Dialogue for Panama.

The agreement indicates that the parties agree that the current National Dialogue for the SSC (DNC) requires important adjustments that allow “its democratization and transparency”, in order to find sustainable solutions for this institution, in the programs that are at risk ( Disability, old age and death; illness and maternity; professional and administrative risks).

Social movements and the Executive agreed to submit together to the board of the Social Security Fund a request for the recomposition of the current National Dialogue by the CSS, maintaining the tripartite principle (Government, business sector and workers).

The Alliances agree to propose the modification of the facilitation, the actors, the access to information. The Methodology will be reviewed when Alliance representatives join the restructured DNC.

The work of the Single Table was resumed this Saturday, August 27, from 9 in the morning, and it was proposed to end at 1 in the afternoon, at the Cristo Sembrador Center, in Penonomé.
