Minister Raul Araújo, of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), ordered today (27), in Brasília, the removal of a series of posts on social networks with an audio falsely attributed to former Defense Minister Aldo Rebelo, in which he would speak evil of the Workers’ Party (PT) and of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, candidate for the presidency.
Candidate for the Senate for the PDT of São Paulo, Rebelo himself denies authorship of the audio. “Aldo Rebelo (former minister and former deputy) would be blaming Lula and the PT governments for the corruption in Petrobras and the rise in fuel prices”, says one of the posts, made by state deputy Bruno Engler (PL-MG). The untrue information was published on 57 profiles on different social networks.

The Brasil da Esperança Coalition, which supports former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, asked the TSE to remove the publications, claiming, among other things, that several verification agencies concluded that the audio was false.

Minister Raul Araújo agreed with the lawyers. In the decision, he highlighted “that the contested publications – although in different formats – are untrue, as Aldo Rebelo did not record the contested audio, information that was confirmed by him on his Twitter profile, on 5.24.2022, as well as by several agencies check. It is, therefore, content produced to disseminate disinformation”.
The minister gave a period of 24 hours for the social networks YouTube, Facebook, Instragram, Gettr and TikTok to remove the audio of various profiles of politicians and influencers on their platforms. He also determined the citation of those responsible for the posts to present a defense.
