Police agents detained in San Juan de los Morros (Guárico) the coordinator of the Public Defense of the Guárico state, identified as Ali Eduardo Añón Sojo (36), allegedly involved in extortion, according to sources in the judicial system.
Añón Sojo was denounced before Poliguárico because he was charging a large sum in dollars to a person in exchange for granting a procedural benefit to his father, who is deprived of liberty in the facilities of the Police Coordination Center No. 1, located in the guariquena capital.
When analyzing this complaint, agents attached to the Coordination of Police Investigations and Prosecutions of Poliguárico designed a controlled delivery operation that consisted of making an appointment between the extorted person and the coordinator of the Public Defense. The idea was to simulate that the extorted had accepted the official’s proposal.
In that encounter, the extorted person gave Añón Sojo an envelope with dollar bills and bolívares as part of the controlled delivery operation. And it was there when the police officers came into action who arrested the regional coordinator of the Public Defense.
Said procedure was carried out on Fuerzas Armadas avenue, entrance to the Los Morros urbanization, Juan German Roscio Nieves municipality, capital of Guárico.
The detainee will be prosecuted for crimes provided for in the Law against Kidnapping and Extortion, according to the file of the Public Ministry MP: 882-22.
The 16th prosecutor’s offices of the Guárico state with competence in Extortion and Kidnapping and the 55th national Anticorruption office are carrying out the investigation.
