Sabonge reveals that 89 streets in the eastern area will be rehabilitated with an investment of $17.7 million

The Minister of Public Works (MOP), Rafael Sabonge, revealed this Thursday morning that some 89 streets in East Panama will be rehabilitated with an investment of $17.7 million.

“Today we start in Las Mañanitas, but we also have streets in Pedregal, San Martín, La 24, Las Garzas, Tocumen, Pacora, and it is a project with which we are going to improve the quality of life of all these people who live in these villages. “, he detailed.

These rehabilitation works began this Thursday and it is expected that the works will be completed in March of next year.

“This complements the project that we recently tendered for a total of $86 million to rehabilitate 65 km of the main roads in our city,” Sabonge said.

The head of the MOP also referred to the beach corridor and the construction of a coastal highway, explaining that it will be a four-lane highway that will be executed in the south of the West Panama area and will be a public-private partnership, which bidding is expected soon.

He said that this project is in the preliminary phase of evaluation by the governing body of these public-private partnerships. “We know that it will be a long-term solution to the traffic problem in these sectors. This will be an alternative road to the beach corridor,” he specified.

This coastal highway runs from Panama Pacific to Loma Campana and will have an investment of $517 million, and will be tolled.
