ATP reveals how many top 100 players are still unvaccinated

There is barely a week left until the new season begins and the tennis players are already packing their bags to travel to Australia, where all the tournaments of the month of January will take place.

The oceanic country has tightened its restrictions due to the pandemic and it will not allow unvaccinated tennis players to play unless they meet any of the exceptions provided for these cases.

At the moment Pierre Hugues Herbert is one of the few players who have expressed their refusal to be vaccinated and to travel to Australia, but it is expected that the list of casualties may be extended in the coming days.

And it is that there are still a few that remain to be inoculated against Covid-19. They are, specifically, 5% of the members of the top 100, as revealed this Friday by the executive vice president of the Communication area of the ATP.

Simon Higson refuted the information of a journalist who claimed that only 80% of the top 100 in the world were vaccinated. “This is obsolete. Our latest figures for the top 100 are 95%,” he wrote on his twitter account.

We still do not know if Novak Djokovic is one of those vaccinated or not, since it still does not reveal its status. At the moment, the world number 1 is registered in both the ATP Cup and the Australian Open, which suggests that he meets all the requirements to enter Australia and play normally.
