[Video] They capture a subject accused of assaulting a police officer in Chía

The aggressor of a Police auxiliary was captured in the municipality of Chía in Cundinamarca, As explained by the institution, this person must respond criminally for the crime of attack against a public servant.

According to information from the authorities, the events occurred in one of the streets of the municipality of Chía, on August 24, 2022, through video from a security camera it can be evidenced the mistreatment to which a police assistant was subjected, by a young man of approximately 25 years of age.

Through a statement the Commander of the Police of the municipality of Chía, Major Jonathan Peña, He stated that this fact constitutes a crime, for exercising violence against a public servant.

For this reason the Police of the municipality of Chía filed a complaint for this crime with the Attorney General’s Office, Therefore, an arrest warrant was issued, which was carried out this Friday against the aggressor of the Police assistant.

In the statement, the Police make a call for citizens understand that physical and verbal aggression against a public servant constitute a crime.

This crime is within Law 2197 of 2022 and is considered aggravating, when it is against a member of the Public Force, which is why and in compliance with the Constitution in its article 6 where public servants are responsible for compliance with the law and also by omission or excess of their functions, the members of the Police will not omit the action against these acts of violence or disrespect, especially if it is against those who work for the security and coexistence of Colombians.
