The United States Border Patrol detained 42 Cubans who came ashore in two precarious boats.
Miami Border Patrol Chief Walter N. Slosar said these rafters had been found in Marquesas Keys, an uninhabited territory east of Key West.
In the group there are 10 minors, 19 men and 13 women.
In another encounter, the same Border Patrol detained 20 Cuban rafters who made landfall on another key in South Florida.
They are expected to be repatriated to the island.
Since October 1, 2021, the beginning of the current fiscal year, the authorities have intercepted more than 4,600 Cuban immigrants on the high seas, a figure apart from the arrests carried out by the Border Patrol in the same period.
