The director of the General Directorate of Revenue (DGI), Publio De Gracia, referred to the issue of collection in the country, indicating that the indirect tax, known as the ITBMS (7%), there is a percentage between 8% to 10 % that has not been recovered against the budget.
He pointed out that for this reason, the DGI is cross-checking data with other sectors, in order to guarantee tax compliance.
De Gracia stressed that what is sought is that people have the facility to comply with the payment of these taxes, keep them informed of when they have to comply with these obligations, “but in the case where we make all these efforts, rest assured that The DGI will go to the ultimate consequences, to initiate proceedings for tax fraud.
He explained that tax fraud is not only found in a single sector but in all sectors, so a data crossing is being carried out with the Social Security Fund through form 03, at the end of September.
He specified that most taxpayers, including foreigners, are unaware of tax compliance.
