Census: scandal in Beni for the signing of the act with the Government and they announce sanctions to their authorities

The Benianity Assembly and the Benian Civic Committee will call an emergency meeting to consider sanctions against the main authorities of the department that this Friday afternoon they signed an act with the Government on the census without respecting what had been decided at the meeting on August 24.

“In Beni there is a central coordinator supported by the departmental government, a proposal was made for the census to be carried out in 2023, that proposal was presented and approved on August 24 unanimously by all the representatives of the department. The governor, Alejandro Unzueta, was entrusted so that the delegate of this coordinator goes to the meeting and presents the proposal, but we were surprised when only the mayors related to the Government entered”, denounced the deputy Priscila Dantes.

The Government closed its national tour by all the departments with the meeting in Trinidad to where the main authorities of the department, and mayors of some municipalities attended.

Dantes said that the mayor of Trinidad, Cristian Cámara, was elected by the Third System Movement (MTS), but that he is an old MAS militant and that he even held executive positions in the administration of Governor Álex Ferrier (MAS).

“All censuses are prepared at least 3 years in advance, when the first base document was made it was 2019in 2020 it was not carried out obviously due to the situation we were experiencing and thus they were postponed, the explanation was quite eloquent”, justified the mayor of Trinidad when leaving the meeting.

Beni was the last department where the so-called socialization tables were organized, at the end of the meeting the departmental authorities accepted the census in 2024, although the mandate of their organizations was to insist on 2023.

Cámara said that the department must prepare because they explained that the “cake” (the economic resources of the State) is the same and that each Bolivian receives an amount depending on where they are and if there are fewer people, they will receive less money. “We need to be prepared and something that we must demand is that Beni make a consistent census cartography in all the municipalities, we cannot lose as we lost in 2012”, he warned.

With all these positions, the Benianity Assembly and the Benian Civic Committee prepare a vote of censure and rejection for their authorities that they did not manage the entry of their delegate to such an important meeting.
