The National Board of Justice (JNJ) reported today that, according to current regulations, it “timely” admitted and is processing the complaints filed against the Nation’s prosecutor, Patricia Benavidez.
Peru21 learned that these “complaints” are those presented by Congresswoman Susel Paredes, from the Integrity and Development caucus, to the president of the JNJ on August 11.
In that letter, Paredes requested that the provisions issued by Benavides be evaluated, such as the change of the prosecutor Bersabeth Revilla, who was investigating the sister of the head of the Public Ministry, Judge Enma Benavides.
Another of the decisions that the parliamentarian recommended observing is the change of prosecutor Frank Almanza, who was in charge of the Sánchez Paredes case, and the restructuring of the White Necks special team.
Through a statement, the JNJ stressed that the complaints are acted in strict compliance with the law and respecting due process.
“In the framework of its autonomy and independence, the National Board of Justice does not accept any pressure in the exercise of its constitutional functions”he indicated.
“The remunerations of the members of the National Board of Justice are not set by the collegiate, but rather respond to the salary structure established by law”culminated.
As recalled, the President of the Council of Ministers, Hannibal Torresquestioned this Friday the National Board of Justice for not investigating the Nation’s prosecutor before facts that he assured are “public complaints” against her.
“In the face of these public denunciations of what happened in the Office of the Attorney General, what is the JNJ doing? Nothing nothing. And in exchange for what do we pay them those succulent salaries that they receive?said this Friday at an event with authorities in Tarapoto.
The prime minister reiterated his criticism against the JNJ after stating that this entity not only appoints prosecutors and judges, but also evaluates them.
“It controls their functional exercise and if they incur serious violations, of course they must investigate immediately”highlighted Torres Vasquez.
