The Defense Council of the ex-prosecutor Jean Alain Rodriguez yesterday accused the Public Ministry of exchanging in its accusation of the jellyfish case to the author of the bribes that exceed RD$654 million.
He indicated that all the witnesses provided by the Anticorruption Attorney as evidence against Jean Alain, whom they point to as the author of the crimes and offenses that appear in the accusation is Canó.
He added that only in the case of the businessman Ulysses Ramirezfrom Smart Display, when he resisted paying more than agreed as a bribe, Canó is mentioned as an accomplice, and Jean Alain then, according to him (Canó) appears as an accomplice.
He affirmed that this places Jean Alain as an “accomplice of complicity”, through an author (Canó); “That is to say, co-respective complicity or ersatz complicity, which is not punishable because there is no such thing as an accomplice of an accomplice.”

According to the lawyers, the RD$654 million bribe was exchanged for euros by Canó and sent to Spain, where he sought immigration status (citizenship).

“And it would seem that if Miriam Germán is inhibited, then there is Rodolfo Espiñeira (first substitute for the Attorney General), but he says nothing, because it is like water: colorless, tasteless and odorless. That man is irresponsible,” Balcácer stressed.
