The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, participated in the First National Meeting of Environmental Defenders, held at the Fruto Vivas Popular University of the Environment, located at the headquarters of the Ministry of Popular Power for Ecosocialism (Minec) in Caracas .
This first meeting is the result of technical roundtables held weeks ago, in conjunction with the Public Ministry and coordinated by the Attorney General of the Republic, in which agreements and debates were established on reforms of various laws, including the Fauna Law Wild.
The purpose of this meeting was to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the administrative, punitive and penal procedures, to verify technical environmental reports, expert reports and police records, to carry out an outline of the instruments and management of land use planning and the formation of the environmental nursery.
“I think that this meeting of environmental defenders should tune up the Public Ministry and all the agencies related to this issue,” said the attorney general during his speech.
Likewise, through said technical table, state and regional meetings were established between the environmental prosecutors of the Public Ministry and representatives of Minec, as well as with officials of the Bolivarian National Guard.
“We are completing the first phase of a plan linked to the defense of the environment. From the first meeting, several technical tables were generated that have allowed this meeting”, detailed Saab. This is indicated by a press release from the Public Ministry.
Likewise, Saab expressed: “Through this meeting we have already made an open path and we must continue it because I am sure that we are going to have better successes.”
This first meeting brought together officials from the Public Ministry and environmental prosecutors and directors of the Ministry of Ecosocialism, as well as state environmental coordinators from the Environmental Nursery attached to Minec from each of the states of Venezuela.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for Ecosocialism, Josué Alejandro Lorca, the Vice Minister of People’s Power for Aquaculture and Fisheries, the Minister of People’s Power for Electric Energy and the Sector Vice President of Public Works and Services, Néstor Reverol.
Also present were the General Director of Human Rights, Karin García, the Director of the Penitentiary Regime, Daniela Carrasco, the Director of Criminal Proceedings Against Public Officials, Yuleidy Pérez, the Director of Execution of Criminal Sentences, Enrique Arrieta, the Director of Institutional Relations , Mary Castejón, the director of Environment, Ana Ochoa and the deputy director of environment, Francisco Pulido, as well as the rector of the Fruit Vivas Popular University of the Environment, Juan Manuel Parra, and representatives of security agencies.
The activity that began on August 25 will consist of 16 presentations specialized in environmental legal work and has the participation of approximately 50 officials from the Public Ministry from all over the national territory.
