This Thursday, the Permanent Commission of Congress approved by majority (23 votes in favor, one against) the composition of the 25 members of the subcommission. Among them, Acción Popular designated Darwin Espinoza Vargas and Jorge Flores Ancachi in two of its three sites, both of whom were being investigated by the Attorney General’s Office for allegedly being part of “Los Niños.”
In the official letter that Chirinos sent to Lady Camones on August 25, the parliamentarian points out that there are “several congressmen” who do not meet the requirement of not being included in criminal proceedings.
“Within the relationship there are congressmen with final sentences and others in the process of investigation, this being a serious fact, which delegitimizes the actions of the institution that you head, creating discomfort in the population that questions the presence of these people”assures the parliamentarian.
To comply with the regulations and correct this, Patricia Chirinos asks that the legislators be removed from the subcommittee.
