This Friday morning, at the headquarters of the National Police (PN), in Ancón, the 25th ceremony was held where 1,002 firearms and 35,503 ammunition were destroyed.
The ceremony was attended by the Organization of American States (OAS), who presented Panama with a “Certification in Destruction of Ammunition”
The governor of the province of Colón, Irasema de Dale, thanked the security forces for the support they provided to that city for two months, through the “Pacifying my Neighborhood” program, which aims to reduce violence in the communities. People who benefit from this program hand over their weapons or ammunition in exchange for food vouchers.
“During those months we managed to rescue 78 revolvers, ammunition, accessories, suppliers from the streets, so that the Colon family lives in peace. We are sure that this will not be the first nor the last activity presented by the Ministry of Government,” he said.
