“The Public Ministry has requested preventive detention, there is no doubt that the deprivation of liberty is one of the greatest legal rights for man. Therefore, the correct balance must be established between the measure that is decreed and the security of society. In such terms, we are going to see if it proceeds or not,” said Sapiain when he began to argue his request for preventive detention, La Tercera reports.
“Mr. Llaitul is a leader, much more than a warrior, who we can empathize in some aspects with his cause related to territorial claim. The Government has been working in that area by peaceful means, recovering land and handing it over to the Mapuche people, a people that it claims to protect”, he continued.
“But as a good leader he has lost his way, he has not realized the damage he is causing to his own people, he has not realized that a 60-year-old man who was shot and recently admitted to the Cañete Hospital is not his enemy. , does not realize that that lady who was with five children, also in the Cañete sector where subjects enter and shoot the truth that she is not your enemy and is a Mapuche just like you, “added the lawyer.
“Then we are going to see in the face of this loss of direction if this preventive detention should actually be decreed,” he added.
