More security and connectivity, Anato's request to Petro

In the 26th version of the National Congress of Travel and Tourism Agencies, this Thursday, under the theme of the meeting, it was held ‘The Challenge of the New Tourism‘. The union and the National Government discussed the challenges of the industry through environmental care.

The event featured the participation of the President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro; the mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López; the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Germán Umaña, the president of the Board of Directors Central Chapter of Anato, Carlos Moreno; and the president of Anato, Paula Cortés. There, the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies also showed its support for the new Government to promote tourism as the central axis of the economy.

We are committed to the recovery of employment and the construction of the social and business fabric for the comprehensive and sustainable development of our common heritage, which is Colombia.”, said the president of the Board of Directors Central Chapter of Anato, Carlos Moreno.

For her part, the mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, assured that she will accompany the president in this work strengthening the sector and facilitating a competitive cost structure with other countries in the region.

“This way we can attract events and more people to our city. The blow has been brutal, in 2019, Bogotá had 12 million tourists, last year we only had half, so we have as a goal in the two years that remain to at least return to pre-pandemic figuresLopez said.

In her turn, the president of Anato, Paula Cortés, highlighted the work of the union members and the resilience that has sustained them despite the hard blow of the pandemic.

“Tourism is a complex system that requires many nuances to create an ideal environment, we will mention some of them: greater security, building indigenous experiences, greater air, sea and land connectivity, in addition to formality and regulation,” said Cortés.

Finally, Gustavo Petro said in his speech that will review and work in an articulated manner with the industrythis through environmental care in a biodiverse country and considered ‘one of the most beautiful in the world’.

“The time has come for us to even think about business, but fundamentally existence with life, not against it,” said the President.

In addition, the Petro finished off with the phrase “we have to sell our country to the world”, in order to trade beauty, but in a sustainable way, hand in hand with communities and nature.
