After a chase of almost 20 hours, the country’s anti-drug agencies last night managed to stop a speedboat on the Baní coast, in which they seized 565 packages, presumably cocaine, and arrested two Dominicans.
According to information from the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), agents from that entity, the Dominican Republic Navy, the Air Force and intelligence agencies, coordinated by the Public Ministry, participated in the operation.
During a maritime operation that lasted more than 20 hours, DNCD agents and Navy personnel managed to intercept a speedboat several nautical miles from Punta Salinas, Bani, with two Dominicans on board, where they found the number of 18 bags, containing 556 kitchen packages that were transported from Colombia.
The report of the DNCD indicates that anti-drug agents and members of the Navy received an alert about the presence of a suspicious boat on the high seas, bound for Dominican territory and after the capture of the boat, Dominicans José Luis Abreu Sánchez and Jorge Luis Vásquez were arrested Polanco, who are in the power of the Public Ministry of the Peravia Province.

In addition to the 556 packages of cocaine, the authorities also found on the boat a GoFast-type speedboat, white and blue, 30 feet long, several jugs of gasoline, two GPS, a satellite phone, three cell phones, two motors outboard of 60 Hp each, a canvas, life jackets and other evidence.
The Public Ministry and the DNCD expand the investigations in relation to the attempt of the two Dominicans to introduce the millionaire shipment of cocaine into the country and it was reported that both will be brought to justice in the next few hours, under the accusation of violating Law 50 -88 On Drug Trafficking.
The 556 packages of cocaine were transported under strict security measures to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), where the number of kilos and purity of the drug will be determined.
