The director of the Luis Chicho Fábrega hospital in the province of Veraguas, Saúl Jované, announced that the Ministry of Economy and Finance has allocated $4 million for this hospital, which will be used to purchase supplies and medicines.

Jovan explained that the bureaucratic process to purchase these supplies has already begun, the only thing that remains to be approved by the Assembly, and that he hopes that next week they will already have this budget assigned.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ángela Caballero, president of the Association of Medical Specialists of Veraguas, assured that the budget of $4 million dollars is not enough to solve the problems of this medical center because there are too many deficiencies.
“There are structural problems, leaks everywhere, operating rooms that cannot be enabled… The calculation that we made is 10 million dollars and that is established in documents that were requested of us, each department made the calculation that is needed for each area,” he said.
For example, in structural matters, supplies, medicines and that the figures that they manage to correct these problems require at least $10 million dollars and that with those $4 million they will only be able to subsist in matters of emergencies, for which they made a called the Ministry of Economy and Finance to approve a larger budget, otherwise they will be in the streets.
For her part, the director of the Health Region of the province of Veraguas, Reina Velarde, assured that with the allocation of this budget it will be possible to provide better responses to the population of Veraguas.
