PLD asks to respect rights Donald Guerrero

Deputies of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) They warned yesterday that due process must be respected in the case of the investigation carried out by the Public Ministry against former Minister of Finance Donald Guerrero for alleged money laundering, fraud and bribery.

In this sense, deputy Sócrates Pérez denounced that with many of the investigations that have been opened, the government supposedly seeks to entertain the country, in the face of the serious problems that affect them.

While Juan Julio Campos, spokesman for the PLD in the Lower House, said that no one is above the law, but that the accused must respect their rights, according to the Constitution of the Republic.

He added that the Public Ministry that conducts the investigations is also not above the law, “the accused is not there, but neither is the Public Ministry, the Public Ministry is the guarantor of respect for due process, the laws and the Constitution of the Republic”.

For his part, Pérez warned the Public Ministry that it must respect due process and that the accused are innocent until proven guilty in court.

He stated that one must act in accordance with the law in all cases of submission and investigations regarding the commission of alleged acts of corruption.

“Look what happens is that they cannot say that a person is a thief without having stolen, because you accuse a person that does not mean that he is a thief, he has to prove it in a trial, but they must prove it to him,” he said.

He added that “now if you notice them, every time they see that the PLD begins to show its head in the polls, they invent something, their campaign, it seems that they have not realized that they are in government, it is to accuse everything to the Dominican Liberation Party.”
