The National Assembly (AN) unanimously approved this Thursday the draft Agreement to commemorate the sensitive death of the architect Fruto Vivas, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 94.
During the special sessionthe president of Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, highlighted the work carried out by cheers and his fight for the “sustainability of human life, long before climate change began to be talked about.”
In statements broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, Rodríguez shared different anecdotes about the architect Fruto Vivas.
Among these stories, he recalled the construction of the residences located in Santa Rosa, on Avenida Libertador; and the request for the creation of the Mausoleum located in the Cuartel de la Montaña, where the remains of Commander Hugo Chávez rest.
«One of the saddest days of our lives, on March 5, 2013, at about eight o’clock at night, President Nicolás Maduro called me and told me: ‘go talk to Fruto, you know what for’. As soon as he opens the door of the house for me, he tells me ‘I know why you’re here. I’m already drawing. You have it tomorrow’. Fruto, while the people mourned Chávez, Fruto stayed living in the barracks on the mountain. He left there the same day that the Mausoleum of Hugo Chávez was finished. He told me ‘I always dreamed of building a house for Chávez. It hurts me a lot that this house that I built for him is the last resting place of Commander Hugo Chávez,” said the parliamentarian.
During his participation, the president of the AN announced that, by order of President Nicolás Maduro, the projects related to the Gold Necklace for the Waraira Repano and the exhibition of the architect’s works were approved.
For his part, deputy José Gregorio Correa asked the National Assembly to create an annual award named “Fruto Vivas.”
“This parliament, representative of the popular will, should think of an annual prize for architectural work, a prize that bears the name of Fruto Vivas and that is delivered by this parliament,” he stressed during his participation.
He highlighted all the acknowledgments made to the architect, and asserted “architecture in Venezuela is called Fruto Vivas.”
Living fruit was a legend
The architect of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), Domingo Acosta, also participated in the extraordinary session, who highlighted the work and work of the master; as well as his son Vladimir Vivas.
«His thought, his eagerness for a better world is more transcendental and his work is more than his thought. Fruit was a legend. His projects and works generated our deep admiration », pointed out the UCV architect.
“Fruto Vivas” was characterized in life for being an organic man, with a sense of community, revolutionary, indigenous and intelligent.
Works known from his long career include the Church of Santa Rosa, Valencia; Tachira Club, Caracas; Hotel Moruco, Merida; Museum of Modern Art, Caracas; Church of the Holy Redeemer, San Cristóbal; Church of the urbanization of Zapara, Maracaibo; Hotel La Cumbre, Ciudad Bolivar; Venezuelan Pavilion at Hannover Expo, Project for the headquarters of the NGO Vidas Recicladas in Santos, Brazil.
Also, The Flower of the Four Elements, in the Mausoleum of Commander Hugo Chávez in the Cuartel de la Montaña, Caracas, is part of his work.
